How To Hit A Golf Ball Straight: Align Your Shoulders Parallel With Your Target Line

golf methodyou want to learn how to hit a golf ball straight, you must have your shoulders aligned parallel with your target line, the imaginary line running from your target back to and through your ball, at the completion of your set up routine.

In addition, you must have the sweet spot of your club face centered as near as possible to the back of your ball at final address if you want to experience  how to hit a golf ball straight.

The reasons why these two alignments are so critical in hitting straight golf shots is that your down swing must deliver a square club face to your ball at impact on a path that matches the imaginary line running  from your target back to and through your ball.

If you do not have both of these alignments properly in sync when your club face contacts your ball, you club face will bottom-out at the wrong point in your down swing and you will mishit your golf ball.

Centering the sweet spot of your club face as near as possible to the back of your ball is not at all difficult.

However, aligning your shoulder line parallel with the imaginary line that runs from your target back to and through your ball is far more challenging.

Here is part of an article that speaks of the importance of aligning your shoulders parallel the imaginary line running from your target back to and through your ball.

“Another thing to learn form Justin is how he will align his body parallel to the target, not right at it. It is important to understand that in this side posture game, we have to align slightly left of the target to be properly aligned. I like to tell my students to imagine train tracks with your ball on one side and you on the other. Standing at address, the body is aligned to the left of the target just like train tracks we are aiming correctly at the target, the train tracks look like they meet in the distance because they are going to the same place. Once you have determined your alignment make sure your feet, hips, and shoulders are aligned correctly parallel to the left of the spot you have determined on your line. I see a lot of amateurs only align their feet and think they are on target when they only took care of one-third of the alignment. Proper alignment involves feet, hips and shoulders.” Read more…http://www.pga.com/golf-instruction/lesson-learned/fundamentals/steady-preshot-routine-propels-justin-rose-victory.

Some instructors refer to this type of target alignment as “parallel left” alignment. Irrespective of the term or image used, the shoulders-to-target alignment must be perfect at final address if you want to improve your golf game.

Just keep in mine that centering the sweet spot of the golf ball as near as possible to the back of the ball and aligning your shoulder line parallel with your target line at the completion of your set up routine makes for the ideal golf method in terms of proper alignmnents.

Once again, they are critical if you want to experience how to hit a golf ball straight.
