best golf lessonA very best golf lesson consists of staying in the moment when playing in competition rather than focusing on other golfers in the tournament and how well they are scoring.

Another best golf lesson is to visualize your golf shot before swinging your club. This becomes even more important if you are trying to hit the golf ball straight.

Staying in the moment is a sound golf strategy because it keeps you grounded in a tournament so you don’t get too far ahead of what really is happening on the course with other players.

Visualizing your golf shot before you commence your golf swing  also is a sound golf method because the mental part of the game is as important as the physical part of the game.

A recent golf article addressed the importance of staying in the moment and visualizing the golf shot, as Mark Wilson did in winning the Humana  Challenge. Here is a part of the article abour Mark Wilson:

“The keys to his success are that he’s been able to combine a keen analytical mind – he was a math major at North Carolina – with an ability to stay in the moment. Wilson is almost oblivious to what other players are doing. He rarely looks at leader boards. He focuses on the process and not the result.

That approach enabled him to pull off a difficult second shot on the par-5 18th hole in the final round of the Humana Challenge, despite holding a one-shot lead and having to wait 10 minutes for the green to clear.

The Golf Channel cameras caught Wilson fiddling with his golf glove and pacing. But he wasn’t thinking about winning the tournament or worrying about the consequences if he hit a bad shot. Read more…http://www.jsonline.com/sports/golf/keeping-it-all-in-perspective-683vb8d-138244184.html.”

Even without locking-in a square club face alignment during your golf swing, if you are able to grip your club only once, center the sweet spot of your club face as near as possible to the back of your ball, align your shoulders parallel with your and then keep your left heel planted, maintain a steady head and execute a simple  golf swing you have an excellent chance of hitting a decent golf shot.

However, if you unlock the lifeline of your right hand from your left thumb and then re-lock your right-hand lifeline on your left thumb after initially gripping your club, you should not expect a favorable result even if you do as prescribed above.

This is true even assuming you stay in the moment and visualize your golf shot before swinging your club.

Staying in the moment and visualizing the golf shot is a very best golf lesson only if your fundamentals are sound, as they surely are in Mark Wilson’s case because he is one of the best ball strikers on the tour.
